D. Raghoothaman

D. Raghoothaman is an eminent theatre artist who graduated in Theatre Arts from School of Drama in Thrissur in 1988. He was a disciple of Prof. G. Sankara Pillai, Prof. S. Ramanujam, Dr. Vayala Vasudevan Pillai, Krishnan Namboothiri and P. K. Venukuttan Nair during this period.

Later, he co-founded a contemporary theatre group Abhinaya with late S. Ajayan. Raghoothaman has also associated with Kavalam Narayana Panicker and his theatre group ‘Sopanam’.

He was awarded the best director at the state-level amateur drama competition conducted by Kerala Sangeet Natak Akademi in 1993. In 1994, he received the Second Best Actor award by Kerala Sangeeth Natak Akademi and he was the second best director in the State Award for Amateur Drama Competition organized by Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in 1997.
