`No political party can mislead educated public', Pinarayi at MBIFL inauguration

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the second edition of Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL) at Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. Australian writer Germaine Greer was the guest of honour at the occassion.

Mathrubhumi Joint Managing Director Shreyams Kumar welcomed the gathering and said since it is a paid festival, only people of innate interest will attend.

Chief minister appreciated Mathrubhumi for conducting a festival of literature. “A man becomes a man only when he acquires knowledge,” he said. He also mentioned that no political party can mislead an educated public.

Speaking at the occasion, Mathrubhumi managing director MP Veerendrakumar MP said people can meet great writers and know their experiences during the fest. He also expressed happiness in having chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan as the special guest for the inaugural function.

Writer Germaine Greer said that India should maintain its multi-cultural layers and she has a special love for the nation.

 Managing Director PV Chandran and executive editor PI Rajeev also attended the function.
