Citizen's new titanium watch wears gold's look without its price

Citizen has rolled out a limited-edition watch that trades gold plating for something far tougher and it still manages to pass for the real thing at a glance.

The Zenshin Three-Hand AW0132-55P uses Citizen's Duratect Amber Yellow treatment, a finish first added to the brand's Super Titanium lineup in 2025.

Instead of coating the case in actual gold, Citizen builds the surface from a nickel-free niobium-titanium alloy, hardened to between 1,700 and 2,300 Vickers.

Per Citizen, that's 10 to 20 times harder than standard gold plating and since it skips nickel entirely, it's also hypoallergenic, so wearers don't need to baby it the way they might a plated piece.

The case measures 39.5mm, a size that should suit most wrists, and Super Titanium keeps things light, about 40% lighter than stainless steel despite the harder surface.

Citizen matches the case with an integrated bracelet in the same tone and a textured yellow dial, giving the watch a cohesive, monochromatic gold look without any actual gold in the build.

Powering it is Citizen's J800 Eco-Drive movement, which runs on light than a replaceable battery.

Citizen says a full charge can keep the watch running for around eight months. A day-date window sits at the three o'clock position, and the watch is rounded out with a sapphire crystal, 100m of water resistance, and a screw-down case back, specs that push it beyond a purely dressy piece and into a regular wear. Pricing lands at $695, or roughly ₹67,070.
