How to register for UGC NET 2025: A step-by-step guide

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the registration process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) 2025 exam. This exam evaluates the eligibility of Indian nationals for the roles of Assistant Professor and for both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor positions in universities and colleges across India. Since December 2018, the NTA has been conducting the UGC NET in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format.

Online Application Submission: April 16 to May 7, 2025, by 11:59 pm
Last Date for Examination Fee Payment: May 8, 2025, by 11:59 pm
Correction in Application: May 9, 2025

Examination Dates (Tentative): June 21 to 30, 2025

How to apply for UGC NET 2025
Visit the official website: ugcnet.nta.ac.in
Click on the UGC NET registration link on the homepage.
New candidates must click on 'New Candidate Register Here'
Complete the registration and log in.
Fill out the application form with the required details.
Pay the application fee and submit the form.
Take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference.

General/Unreserved: ₹1150
General-EWS/OBC-NCL: ₹600
SC/ST/PwD: ₹325
Third Gender: ₹325

Eligibility criteria
General Category: Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks. No upper age limit for Assistant Professor. For JRF: maximum 31 years (with relaxation for reserved categories)

SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Third Gender: Master’s Degree with 50% marks. A relaxation of 5 years for JRF.

Final Year Candidates: Those appearing in their Master's Degree exams can apply, provided they submit the final results when declared.

Ph.D. Holders: Holders of a Ph.D. in the relevant subject receive a 5% relaxation in marks for JRF and Assistant Professor roles.
