How to apply for high-security registration plate in India

High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) is an aluminium-made “high-security registration number plate” fixed to a vehicle using two non-reusable locks. A chromium-based hologram of Ashoka Chakra of 20 mm x 20 mm size is applied by hot stamping on the top left-hand corner of the plate in both front and rear plates to protect against counterfeiting. HSRP) features a hot-stamped film with the inscription "INDIA" at a 45-degree angle across the registration numerals and letters, and once the unique registration is fixed, it's electronically linked to the vehicle. 

States are permitted to either manufacture their number plates or allow all approved companies to operate, potentially granting a monopoly to the company with the lowest bid.

2. Click on ‘Book’ underneath ‘High-Security Number Plate with Colour Sticker’.
3. Enter the necessary details which include your vehicle number, engine number, chassis number, fuel type, contact number, etc.
4. Enter the Captcha code displayed on your screen and tap on ‘Click Here’.
5. Select your preferred fitment location and appointment slot for the installation of the number plate on your vehicle.
6. Review and confirm your booking details at Book my HSRP, then proceed to make the required payment.
7. Download the generated payment receipt.
8. Receive a mobile notification once your HSRP is ready for installation.

The Indian government mandates all vehicle owners to use High-security Registration Plates (HSRP) and colour-coded stickers on their cars and bikes. These stickers help identify the vehicle's fuel type and Bharat Stage emission standard. With the following differences, the colour-coded stickers are placed on the vehicles

• Blue for petrol and CNG vehicles
• Orange for diesel vehicles
• Green for electric vehicles

3. Enter the vehicle registration state, registration number, chassis number, and engine number.
4. Enter the rear and front of the laser code that is mentioned on the HSRP.
5. Enter the captcha.
6. Tap on ‘Click Here’.
7. Now, select the vehicle dealership location and book the appointment slot.
8. You have to pay the fee on the following page.
9. To verify, a copy of the receipt needs to be downloaded.
