Concerned about adulterated food, expired products, or unhygienic restaurants? The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has made it easier for consumers to report food safety violations through its Food Safety Connect app. From misleading labels to poor hygiene at food establishments, the app allows users to file complaints, upload evidence, and track their grievances. Here's how you can report unsafe food in just a few simple steps.

Download the app

Download the Food Safety Connect app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. You can also submit complaints through the FSSAI consumer grievance portal.

Register or log in

Create an account or sign in using your credentials. Select 'Lodge New Complaint' to begin.

Enter food business details

Provide the name and address of the food business. If available, enter the FSSAI licence or registration number, or scan the QR code displayed at the establishment.

Select the type of complaint

Choose the issue you want to report, such as:

  • Adulterated food
  • Expired products
  • Poor hygiene
  • Incorrect or misleading labelling
  • Misleading advertising
  • Other food safety violations

Upload evidence

Attach photographs, videos, bills, or other supporting documents to help verify your complaint.

Submit the complaint

Review the details and submit your complaint. The app will generate a unique tracking ID.

Track your complaint

Use the tracking ID to monitor the progress of your complaint. It will be forwarded to the appropriate food safety authority for inspection and action.

Re-raise the complaint (if needed)

If you are not satisfied with the response or resolution, use the app's 'Re-Raise Complaint' option to escalate the matter.
