Asin shares daughter Arin’s Onam moments in rare social media update | See Photos

Actress Asin has given fans a rare glimpse of her daughter Arin as the family celebrated Onam. The actress, who has largely stayed away from films, the paparazzi and social media in recent years, shared a few pictures of her daughter on Wednesday.

In the pictures, her daughter Arin can be seen dressed for the festival in a yellowish-orange traditional outfit with puffed sleeves and gold detailing. She is surrounded by colourful flowers, adding to the festive mood.

Another picture shows her sitting at a table filled with trays of marigolds, roses and other flowers. 

The post is particularly special for those who have followed Asin since her days as one of the most popular actresses in South Indian cinema and Bollywood.

Asin has largely kept her family life private

The actress has maintained a remarkably low profile since leaving the film industry. She is rarely seen at public events and does not regularly share updates on social media.

When she does post, her daughter has often been at the centre of those updates.

In October 2022, Asin shared pictures from Arin's fifth birthday celebrations. A year later, she posted glimpses of her daughter's sixth birthday in Paris, where Arin was seen celebrating with her father, businessman Rahul Sharma.

Asin returned with another birthday post in 2024 when Arin turned seven. The celebration had a colourful 'busy bee' theme, with bee-inspired decorations, balloons and a cake decorated with musical instruments, books and references to different languages. That birthday post had been Asin's most recent social media update until her Onam pictures.

From South Indian cinema to Bollywood

Asin began acting as a teenager with the Malayalam film ‘Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka’. She went on to build a successful career in Tamil and Telugu cinema before making her Bollywood debut opposite Aamir Khan in ‘Ghajini’ in 2008.

The film turned out to be a major commercial success and gave Asin a strong introduction to Hindi audiences. She subsequently appeared in films including ‘London Dreams’ with Salman Khan, followed by the hugely successful ‘Ready’.

She later starred in ‘Housefull 2’, ‘Bol Bachchan’ and ‘Khiladi 786’. Her final Hindi film was ‘All Is Well’, released in 2015.

Over the course of her career, Asin worked across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi cinema and became one of the few South Indian actresses to establish herself successfully in Bollywood as well.

Asin married entrepreneur Rahul Sharma on January 19, 2016. The couple had both Christian and Hindu wedding ceremonies in Delhi.

They welcomed their daughter Arin in October 2017. Following her marriage and the birth of her daughter, Asin gradually moved away from acting and public life.

Since then, she has largely chosen to keep her family away from the spotlight.
