From Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, double-decker bus now in Thalassery

Thalassery: The double-decker bus of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), which was previously introduced in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, has reached Thalassery. The bus stationed at Thalassery Depot was welcomed by a huge gathering of people who wanted to take a look at the bus. The public can now ride and enjoy Thalassery heritage tourism by bus.

The double-decker bus, which embarked its journey from Thiruvananthapuram city depot on Thursday night, reached Thalassery by Friday noon. The bus driver, Navas, and the bus conductor, Jayaprakash, drove around Thalassery, carrying people from the town. The bus can accommodate 28 people on the lower deck and 21 people on the upper deck. 

Measures have been taken to fix the electric cables, lines, and branches of trees that may cause a hindrance to the commutation of the bus. In Thiruvananthapuram, the double-decker bus starts its night city ride at 5 pm. and day city ride at 9 a.m. with a fare of Rs. 250 per person. 

The bus fares will be determined after the finalization of destinations in Thalassery and will be high than the regular fares. Students can travel with discounted fares. It is part of an initiation by speaker A.N. Shamseer with the intention of promoting heritage tourism in Thalassery. Minister of Transport, K.B. Ganesh Kumar, will inaugurate the event on February 22.

In its initial phase, the bus intends to transit through various tourist attractions like Illikkal Gundert Bungalow, courts, Overbury’s Folly, Kadalpalam, St. John’s Anglican Church, Cricket Stadium, Wellesley Bungalow, Jagannath Temple, M. Mukundan Park, Mahe Basilica Church, Muzhappilangad Beach, etc.
