Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery presents "Rock Flows": A multifaceted exhibition by Nadirsun

Kozhikode: The Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery in Kozhikode, in yet another effort to promote fine arts, is hosting a solo exhibition by Nadirsun titled 'Rock Flows'. It is being presented as part of the Contemporary Solo Art Exhibition Project.
The exhibition is a sweeping journey through the inner and outer worlds of an artist who seamlessly weaves the political with the personal, the serene with the shattering. The exhibition was inaugurated on June 21 at 4 pm by musician Raaza Razaq.
Speaking on the theme of the display, Nadirsun said that it projects the multiplicities of life and the coexistence of pain and serenity.
He said, “The paintings portray multiple dimensions of the world and the myriad events that take place at the same time in this universe. For instance, while we are standing here in the gallery, there are people in other parts of the world encountering wars. This exhibition is an attempt to mirror the world without filtrations,” he added.
Running one’s eyes through the canvases gives a glimpse of the artist’s soul- and it is easy to conclude that through his practice, Nadirsun channeled the water of calm, formlessness, and life; the fire of passion, transformation, and purification; and the wind of uncertainty and freedom. His work is like rock—flowing and unpredictable—not confined by the dichotomies of politics and aesthetics, or narrative and iconic.
Nadir’s prowess has been shaped by his grounding at the College of Fine Arts Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram, and the time spent mastering sculptures at the Hyderabad Central University, where he earned his Master’s degree. The exhibition presents a rich spectrum of his work, from graphic, unsettling depictions of violence and political trauma to serene, almost prayer-like landscapes.
The exhibition will be on view from June 21 to 30 at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery in Kozhikode and will be open to the public daily from 11 am to 7 pm.
