Have healthy 'Karkkidaka Kanji' during monsoon
Karkkidaka Kanji, a medicinal rice porridge, is a traditional item of Kerala that is consumed during the monsoon season. Here is the recipe for Dasapushpa Kanji. Dasapushpam composes a group of ten medicinal herbs. It helps in boosting the immune system and has been part of our food since a long time.
Ingredients
- The essence of Dasapushpam- mukkutti (biophytum sensitivum), thiruthali (morning glory), kayyoni (false daisy), cheroola (mountain knotgrass), nilappana (golden eye-grass), karuka (India doab or bahama grass), muyalcheviyan (lilac tasselflower), vishnukranthi (tender dwarf morning glory), puvankurunnila (little ironweed), and uzhinja (balloon plant).
- Navara rice/Red rice/Matta raw rice - 80 gram
- Cumin seeds
- Shallots
- Water - 1 litre
- Milk/coconut milk - 500 ml
- Oil
Preparation
Mix the essence taken from the 10 flowers with water and milk. Now add rice and boil. After boiling it, take it out and keep it for cooling. Now add oil into a pan. Then, fry shallots and cumin seeds. Add this into the porridge.
