MT Vasudevan Nair to be guest editor of Mathrubhumi Weekly Vishu Edition

Kozhikode: Mathrubhumi Weekly Vishu Special Edition which introduced many talented writers to Malayalam literature is coming back after a gap of 15 years. Renowned writer MT Vasudevan Nair who headed the weekly when Vishu Edition was initiated in 1969 to find out young writers, will act as the guest editor of new Vishu Edition.

When the literary competition that stopped 15 years ago resumed recently, the college students within and outside Kerala responded very positively to it. A jury including many leading writers and critics evaluated the entries under the supervision of MT Vasudevan Nair.

The result of the competition and the prize winning entries will be published in the Vishu Edition of the weekly to be out on April 14. An interview with MT in which he explains the history and relevance of the Vishu Edition also is included in the contents.

MT debuted in literature by winning first prize for his story 'Valarthumrigangal' in the World Short Story Competition held by Mathrubhumi in 1954. Many leading writers including NS Madhavan, N Prabhakaran, D Vinayachandran, CR Parameswaran, Ashitha, Aymanan John, Subhash Chandran and Chandramathi were introduced to the literary world by Mathrubhumi Vishu Edition.
