Kozhikode: The Public Library and Research Centre here is taking proactive steps to cultivate a love for reading among young readers by introducing a dedicated 'reading corner' for children.

The reading corner, adorned with artificial lawns and comfortable bean bags, will feature an extensive collection of children's publications and comics. Scheduled for inauguration on May 25, the library aims to provide an inviting space for youngsters to explore the joys of reading.

Those who are members of the library, along with their children, are encouraged to make use of this facility. Reading corners have been a common feature in schools and colleges, where they have been instrumental in fostering critical thinking and creativity among children.

With a collection of one lakh books and a digital reference area, the library is well-equipped to cater to diverse reading interests. The library is accessible to visitors from 7 am to 9 pm. Additionally, the library houses gazettes dating back to 1946, offering a valuable resource for members seeking references and information.

This new reading corner promises to be a valuable asset for young readers, providing an engaging environment to foster a lifelong love for reading and learning.
