LIC Scholarship for general, girl child categories: Apply online by December 22

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has invited applications under the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme 2024. The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to Economically Weaker Sections and to provide them with better opportunities for higher education and employment.
The scholarship is awarded for students studying in India in a Government or Private college/university. It shall also cover technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/ Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) and Integrated Courses after XII Std.
Scholarships shall be of two types; General Scholarship and Special Scholarship for Girl Child. General Scholarships are awarded for higher studies after Class 12 as well as higher studies after class 10. Special Scholarship for Girl Child is for studies after Class 10.
For all scholarships, applicants should have (i) passed the qualifying examination with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA grade in the Academic Year 2021-22/2022-23/2023-24 (ii) taken admission in the academic year 2024-25 for pursuing first year course specified and (iii) annual income (from all sources) of parents/guardian should not be exceeding ₹2,50,000/-. Relaxations in upper limit of annual income to ₹4 lakhs shall be granted only in cases where a woman (widow/single mother/unmarried) is the sole bread earner of the family.
Specific eligibility:
General Scholarship after Class 12th (XII): Applicant should have passed Class XII/equivalent under Regular/Vocational/ Diploma (ii) taken admission to degree course in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Graduation in any discipline, Integrated Courses, Diploma Course in any field or other equivalent courses, Vocational Courses through Government recognized Colleges /Institutes or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). Those who gain lateral entry in 2nd Year Engineering Degree courses or take regular admission in the 1st Year of Engineering Degree courses after completing Diploma shall be eligible for GJF Scholarship provided they have passed Diploma with 60% or equivalent CGPA grade in the academic year 2021-22/2022 - 23/2023-24.
Eligibility for General Scholarship after Class 10th (X): Applicants should have passed Class X exam/equivalent (ii) taken admission for pursuing first year education in the field of Vocational / Diploma Courses through Govt. recognized colleges/institutions or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).
Eligibility for Special Scholarship for Girl Child: Applicants should be Female who have passed Class X exam/equivalent (ii) taken admission for pursuing higher studies in the first year of Intermediate/10 + 2 pattern/ Vocational or Diploma Courses through Government recognized colleges/ institutions or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).
Duration of scholarships: Scholarship will be provided for the entire duration of the course under General Scholarships and for two years under Special Girl Scholar, subject to the candidate fulfilling requisite eligibility conditions for renewal.
Amount of Scholarship: (a) General Scholarship - ₹40,000/- per annum, for pursuing Medical courses (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS) (b) ₹30,000/- per annum, to pursue Engineering (BE, BTECH, BArch) (c) ₹20,000/- per annum for Graduation courses in any discipline, Integrated Courses, Diploma Course in any field or other equivalent courses, Vocational Courses or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) (d) Special Scholarship for Girl Child- An amount of ₹15,000/- per annum for pursuing higher studies.
All scholarships are payable every year in two equal instalments.
The 112 Divisional Offices of LIC will each select 30 students. Of those 30 students, twenty (20) students will be awarded General Scholarship - 10 for Boys & 10 for Girls, based on merit and eligibility. However, if there is a shortfall in number of boys in selection, the shortfall may be filled by girls, and vice versa. Remaining 10 scholarships will be awarded to girls under Special Scholarship for Girl Child, based on merit and eligibility.

After submitting the online application, applicant will receive an acknowledgement email at the email address provided in the application. The Divisional Office of LIC mentioned in the acknowledgement email will handle any further correspondence.
Shortlisting and final selection of candidates shall be done by the respective Divisional Offices of LIC in the order of merit based on percentage of marks obtained in class 12th /10th. Candidates who apply for ‘Regular Scholarship’ category after completing their 12th will be given priority over those who apply after completing their 10th Std. during the selection process.
