CBSE merit Scholarship 2024: Check eligibility, application guidelines, last date to apply here

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child. 

The objective of the scholarship scheme is to provide scholarships to the meritorious Single Girl Students, who are the only child of their parents; and who have passed the CBSE Class X Examination with 70% or more marks and are continuing their further school education of Class XI and XII. 

The scheme is aimed to recognize the efforts of the parents in promoting education among girls and to provide encouragement to meritorious students. All children born together will be considered as Single Girl Child of their parents. 

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian National. Applicants should be single girl students, who has secured 70% or more marks in CBSE Class X Examination of 2024 and are studying Class XI in Schools affiliated with CBSE. Tuition fee in Class X should not more than Rs. 2,500/- p.m. during the academic year. The tuition fee in class XI & XII shall not be more than Rs. 3,000/- p.m. Gross parental/family income should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh per annum. A self-declaration by the parent on a non-judicial notarized stamp paper shall be uploaded online. NRI applicants of the Board are also eligible for the award. The tuition fee for the NRIs should not be more than Rs. 6,000/- per month. 

A Scholar under the scheme while availing this scholarship can enjoy other concession(s) given by the school in which she is studying/by other organization(s). 

Allocation of scholarship: Scholarships shall be awarded to all such ‘Single Girl Students’ who have secured 70% or more marks in the CBSE Class X Examination in that year. The scholarship shall be given on the basis of merit list, from the result of CBSE Class X Examination.

Rate of Scholarships and mode of payment: The rate of scholarship shall be Rs. 1,000/- per month. A Scholarship awarded under the scheme shall be paid for a maximum period of two years. Payment will be made through ECS/NEFT only. 

Duration of scholarship and its renewal: The Scholarship awarded shall be renewed for a period of one year on successful completion of class Xl. Renewal shall also depend on promotion to the next class provided the scholar secures 70% or more marks in aggregate in the examination which determines her promotion to next class. The renewal/ continuation of the scholarship, in cases where a scholar gives up the chosen course of study before its completion or if she changes the school or course of study shall be subject to prior approval of the Board. Good conduct and regularity in attendance are required for continuance of scholarship. The decision of the Board shall be final and binding in all such matters. A Scholarship once cancelled shall not be renewed under any circumstances.

All the applications must be verified from the present school where the student is studying. Verification of application by the school is to be completed by 17.01.2025. First quarterly fee slip duly verified by the Principal should be uploaded online. 

Renewal of CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship X awarded in 2023 can also be done online by 10.01.2025 through https://www.cbse.gov.in/cbsenew/scholar.html. Verification of application by the school should be completed by 17.01.2025.
