Scholarships of AICTE for specified categories for Degree and Diploma Courses

All India Council for Technical Education has invited applications for Saksham, Pragati and Swanath Scholarships for 2024-25. 

Saksham is a MHRD Scheme being implemented by AICTE aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially-abled children to pursue technical education at the Degree level and Diploma Level.  

Pragati Scheme for Girl Students (Degree/Diploma) is implemented by AICTE aimed at providing assistance for advancement of Girls pursuing Technical education (Degree/Diploma). 

For both, Family income of the applicant from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by State /UT Government need to be enclosed. 

For Degree Level Scholarship, applicant should be admitted to First year of Degree level course or Second year of Degree level course through lateral entry and for Diploma Level Scholarship, applicant should be admitted to First year of Diploma level course or Second year of Diploma level course through lateral entry. Admissions should be in any of the AICTE approved Institution.

Under both schemes, amount of Scholarship is Rs. 50,000/- per annum for every year of study for Degree course for maximum 4 years for first year admitted students and maximum 3 years for second year admitted students through lateral entry. For Diploma courses, the scholarships will be given for a maximum of 3 years for first year admitted students and maximum 2 years second year admitted students through lateral entry. The scholarship amount may be used towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipment, software etc. No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc. No documentary proof need to be attached for the above while availing benefits. 

For Saksham Scholarships, Specially-abled student, should be having disability of not less than 40%.  

All eligible specially-abled student admitted to First year of Degree level /Diploma course or Second year of Degree level/Diploma course through lateral entry in any of the AICTE approved Institution will get the scholarship. 

For Pragathi Scholarships, maximum two girl children per family are eligible. 

Under Pragathi scheme, a total of 5,000 scholarships are earmarked per annum for those pursuing Degree level course and a total of 5,000 scholarships are earmarked per annum under this scheme for those pursuing Diploma level courses.  

Applications have also been invited for the AICTE – Swanath Scholarship being implemented to provide encouragement and support to orphans, wards of parents died due to Covid-19, wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed) to pursue technical education. 

Applicant should be from any one of the following categories: (i) Orphan (ii) Either or both parents died due to Covid 19 (iii) Wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action (Shaheed). 

Applicant should be currently studying in the AICTE Approved institutions and courses at Degree/ Diploma level in regular mode (in 1st /2nd / 3rd /4th year). 

A maximum of 2000 scholarships (1000 for Degree Students and 1000 for Diploma Students) will be awarded. 

Conditions related to Family income, Amount of Scholarships will be same as for Pragathi and Saksham Scholarships. The scholarships will be awarded for maximum 4 years’ duration for first year admitted Degree students and maximum 3 years for first year admitted Diploma Students. In case student is currently studying in the 2nd/3rd/4th year at degree level, the duration of the scholarship will be reduced to 3/2/1 year respectively. Similarly, for students currently studying in the 2nd/3rd year at diploma level, the duration of the scholarship will be reduced to 2/1 year respectively.
