World Bank internship program: Apply by February 14

Applications have been invited for the World Bank Internship Program that offers a rewarding opportunity to support the work and mission of the World Bank Group.

The intern will work at the forefront of development and share fresh ideas, new perspectives, and broad research experience and will collaborate with project teams to advance Bank’s vision to create a world free of poverty on a livable planet. Moreover, intern will enrich his/her skills, build his/her professional network, and invest in his/her career development journey.

Those having interests in operations and support functions can apply. Internship opportunities depend on business needs and typically include those studying economics, finance, human development (public health, education, nutrition and population), social sciences (anthropology, sociology), agriculture, environment, engineering, urban planning, natural resources management, private sector development, and corporate support (accounting, communications, human resources, information technology, and finance).

General Eligibility: To be eligible for the Bank Internship Program, applicant must: (i) Have an undergraduate degree (ii) Be enrolled in a full-time graduate study program or PhD program (iii) Be fluent in English. Knowledge of additional languages, including French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese, and Chinese, is desirable. Strong computing and other technical skills will also strengthen the application.

However, there is area specific requirements also to be satisfied by the applicant. For World Bank Intern in Environment, applicant should be pursuing a Masters’ degree or equivalent, in environmental science, natural resource management, or related field. For Intern in Multimedia and Communications, applicant should be currently enrolled in a degree program in journalism, communications, or a related field. For Intern in Evaluation, students in Master’s or PhD degree in social science, natural science, statistics, or related fields are eligible. Offer: In addition to tremendous professional development opportunities, intern will receive an hourly salary. The WB pays an hourly salary to all Interns and, where applicable, provides an allowance toward travel expenses up to USD 3,000 at the discretion of the manager. These travel expenses can only include transport expenses (airfare) to or from the duty station city. Interns are responsible for their own accommodations. Driven by business needs, most Intern positions are based in Washington, DC with some in the WB country offices.

Applicant will be notified by the end of March 2025 if he/she will be invited for an interview. Selections will be made in April 2025 and the new group of interns start early May 2025. The internship period is from May to August.
