NTA extends UGC-NET June 2026 registration deadline, revises key dates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday (May 20) issued a communique announcing an extension of the last date for submission of online application forms for the UGC-NET June 2026 examination. The decision follows “numerous representations from candidates seeking an extension to the registration timeline”.
The move aligns with the earlier public notice issued on 29 April 2026 for examinations linked to “award of Junior Research Fellowship and appointment as Assistant Professor”, “appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.”, and “admission to Ph.D. only” in Indian universities and colleges.
Revised application and fee payment schedule
Candidates now have until 10:00 A.M. on 23 May 2026 to complete submission of their online application forms. The earlier deadline was 11:50 P.M. on 20 May 2026.
While submissions close in the morning of 23 May, the window for successful payment of examination fees remains open until 11:50 P.M. on the same day. Fees can be paid via Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
Correction window and official contact details
A correction facility will be made available after the registration period to allow candidates to edit details in their application forms. The correction window has been rescheduled from 22–24 May to 25–27 May 2026, and will close at 11:50 P.M. on 27 May via the official website: https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in
Candidates have been advised to check https://www.nta.ac.in/ and https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/ for updates and clarifications.
For assistance, applicants may contact the NTA helpline at 011-40759000 or 011-69227700, or email ugcnet@nta.ac.in.
