Research admissions open at National Institute of Immunology for Ph.D. 2025-26: Apply now

Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC) - National Institute of Immunology (NII), an autonomous research institute under the Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India; Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi, has invited applications for admission to its Ph.D. programme 2025-26, Winter Session.
Research at NII encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas of Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, and Computational Biology.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold a 4-year Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in any branch of Science and Technology (such as Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics) or a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery degree or an equivalent degree, as per the norms of the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana. Applicant should have at least 60% aggregate score [OBC (NCL), SC/ST, PwD and EWS need only 55% aggregate score] or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination. Rounding off the percentage score to the next integral value is not permitted.
Applicant must have a valid 5-years doctoral fellowship sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC), or the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), or the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), or any other Government-recognised agency. Those with DST-INSPIRE fellowship are also eligible provided the fellowship can be activated. Admission will be contingent upon holding a valid fellowship tenable for a period of 5 years.
Those appearing for the qualifying examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply. They will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfilment of the eligibility requirements at the time of joining.

Selection: Selection will be through a two-round online interview process. The list of candidates short-listed for interviews shall be available on NII website https://www.nii.res.in/ and the Notice Board of the Institute on 14th November 2025.
Interviews (two rounds) will be held in online mode. First round of interview is scheduled to be held during 26-28 November 2025 and Second round of interview during 02-05 December 2025.
Those selected will be enrolled for the Ph.D. programme of NII in academic affiliation with the Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), Faridabad, Haryana. The Ph.D. programme will start on 29th December 2025. The allotment of laboratories and thesis supervisors will be made by 05th January 2026, based on the interactions with faculty members in the candidate’s area of interest and mutual preference.
All joining for Ph.D must activate their Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) from their respective funding agency (CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT, DST-Inspire), immediately after joining NII.
NII is a residential campus, and shared hostel accommodation will be provided to all students admitted to the Ph.D. programme.
