RCB Faridabad announces PhD programme in Biotechnology for 2025-26: Apply now

Regional Centre for Biotechnology (RCB), an Institution of National Importance created by an Act of Parliament, established by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, under the auspices of UNESCO; NCR Biotech Science Cluster, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad-Gurugram Expressway, Faridabad, has invited applications for admission to its PhD Programme in Biotechnology 2025-26 (Autumn Semester).

RCB is an institute for research in biotechnology providing education, training and research at the interface of multiple disciplines. The PhD programme at RCB is suited to those having an interest in working at the interface of multiple disciplines in the areas related to (but not limited to) structural biology, molecular medicine, infectious disease biology, agricultural biotechnology, systems and synthetic biology, and cancer & cell biology. The Doctoral Degree Programme at RCB leads to the award of the PhD degree to students holding a postgraduate degree/equivalent in any field of science, medicine, or technology. The selected students undergo coursework followed by research leading to a doctoral thesis under the mentorship of a faculty member.

Eligibility: Applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree of 4 years or a master’s degree from a recognised institution in any area of science and technology, or an MBBS degree, or an equivalent degree.

Applicants should have a 60% aggregate score/equivalent grade in the qualifying degree examination (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/differently-abled allowed as per the Government of India norms).

In addition to the above, applicants should have qualified in any of the following examinations and should be holding a valid fellowship offer at the time of the interview: (i) Joint CSIR-UGC test for Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR/UGC JRF) (ii) DBT Junior Research Fellowship (DBT-JRF) (iii) ICMR Junior Research Fellowship (ICMR-JRF) (iv) Any other nationally competitive fellowship offered by the Government of India. Candidature is contingent upon holding a valid fellowship tenable for a period of 5 years.

There are 12 seats. Reservation of seats will be as per the Government of India guidelines.

Application: Application can be submitted at the link given in the notification latest by 15.11.2025. The application fee is Rs.500/-. SC/ST/PwD/EWS candidates are exempt from payment of application fee.

Selection Process: The applications received by the due date will be scrutinized for eligibility. Eligible candidates will be called for a written test and/or interview on 11-12 December 2025 at RCB, Faridabad.

Fellowship: The students admitted to the programme will have to avail the fellowship for which they have qualified as per the rules of the funding agency. RCB will have no financial liability regarding the same.
