New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has activated an online refund mechanism for candidates who participated in the cancelled National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2026 examination held earlier this month.

Applicants may now submit their bank account credentials through the agency’s official website to secure a return of their examination fees.

According to an official administrative notification, the refund utility has been integrated into the NEET-UG 2026 registration portal. Registered candidates can access the dedicated transaction link by logging into the system with their established application credentials.

Required Banking Information

To ensure successful processing, applicants must provide the following verified financial details:

  • Account Holder’s Name
  • Bank Name
  • Account Number
  • IFSC Code
  • Optional: A scanned copy of a cancelled check to verify accuracy.

Crucial Note: The NTA has explicitly stated that all banking submissions are final. No subsequent corrections, modifications, or amendments will be permitted. Candidates must meticulously review their details before clicking submit.

  • Submission Deadline: May 27, 2026, by 11:50 P.M.

Exam Cancellation and Legal Inquiries

The implementation of the refund policy follows the formal cancellation of the May 3 test amid systemic allegations of institutional irregularities and an illicit question paper leak. The unfolding controversy triggered widespread anxiety among students and parents nationwide, prompting multiple law enforcement inquiries, including a comprehensive probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The initial NEET-UG 2026 session was administered on May 3 to govern admissions for undergraduate medical programs across India. Testing authorities voided the results after investigators uncovered reports that specific individuals had allegedly obtained the examination papers prior to the test date and distributed them to select candidates in exchange for illicit financial payments.

Federal investigating agencies have apprehended 11 individuals in connection with the procurement and distribution of the leaked materials.

Revised Examination Schedule

Following the invalidation of the original test, the NTA announced that a rescheduled NEET-UG 2026 examination will take place on June 21. The revised testing window is scheduled from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. IST, a duration that encompasses the time required for administrative and entry formalities.

Testing officials have directed candidates to monitor the official NTA web portal regularly for ongoing updates regarding both the processing of fee refunds and the logistics of the upcoming re-examination.
