PhD admissions open at Institute of Nano Science and Technology Mohali: Apply now
The Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Knowledge City, Sector 81, SAS Nagar, Mohali, has invited applications from those with an independent source of fellowship for admission to the Ph.D. Programme of the institute in areas related to Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Pharma and Agri Sciences.
Ph.D. Programme are offered in Energy and Environment Unit (EEU), Quantum Materials and Devices Unit (QMaDU) and Chemical and Biology Unit (CBU) for the session beginning in January, 2026. Selected students will be enrolled in the Ph.D. program of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Mohali and the Ph. D. degree will be awarded by IISER, Mohali.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold (i) an M.Sc., M.Pharm., or M.Tech. in basic or applied sciences, engineering, or related areas. Those who have appeared for the final year/semester examinations are also eligible, provided that the degree will be granted by the time of joining. Applicant should have qualified at least one national examination out of CSIR/UGC-NET, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF or Project-Funded (as per INST rules). DST INSPIRE may apply but selection of such candidate will be on adhoc basis subject to successful activation of INSPIRE fellowship. Applicant should have independent source of fellowship.
Age limit will be as per the guidelines of CSIR-UGC and DST.
Number of seats is as follows: GEN -35, OBC -19, EWS -7 and SC/ST -16.

A hard copy of the application, affixing a recent passport size photograph, along with the self-attested copy of certificates providing age, educational qualifications, experience if any and reservation category should be sent to ‘The Director, Institute of Nano Science and Technology, Knowledge City, Sector 81, Mohali, Punjab- 140306’ in an envelope super scribed as ‘Application for the Ph. D. Program – January 2026’. The duly filled applications along with the supporting documents should reach INST through Registered/ Speed Post/Courier/ by Hand by 6th October 2025.

Those interested in applying at more than one unit must submit separate application and each application must be accompanied with all the necessary documents.
Selection: Eligible candidates will be shortlisted for interview. Date and mode of interview will be communicated to the email address provided by candidate. The list of shortlisted candidates will also be uploaded on INST website.
After the interview, the list of candidates selected for Ph. D. will be uploaded on INST website and the candidates will be intimated by email.
