Malayali professor at IIT Madras receives rare accolade

Chennai: Dr Sujith RI, a Malayali professor at IIT Madras, was selected as an international member of the United States National Academy of Engineering (NAE), one of the highest professional honours in engineering.
Hailing from Vazhuthacaud in Thiruvananthapuram, Sujith is only the second Indian to be elected to the aerospace section of the NAE after Dr BN Suresh, former director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO, from 2003-07.
He is currently a professor at D Srinivasan Chair at IIT Madras and the Head of the Centre of Excellence for studying Critical Transitions in Complex Systems.
This year only 18 individuals received membership in the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) globally.
