FRI Dehradun opens admissions for 2026 M.Sc. programmes: Apply now

Forest Research Institute (FRI), a deemed-to-be university, Dehradun, Uttarakhand-248195, has invited applications for admission to different 2-year Master of Science Programmes at the institute for 2026.
Programmes and eligibility
(a) M.Sc. Forestry (43 Seats): Three years Bachelor's degree in Science with at least one of the subjects namely Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or Forestry
(b) M.Sc. Wood Science & Technology (43 Seats): Three years Bachelor's degree with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry or B.Sc. degree in Forestry
(c) M.Sc. Environment Management (43 Seats): Three Years Bachelor's degree in any branch of Basic or Applied Sciences or Bachelor's degree in Forestry or Agriculture or B.E./B.Tech. in Environment Science
(d) M.Sc. Cellulose & Paper Technology (26 Seats): Three years Bachelor's degree in Science with Chemistry as one of the subjects or B.E./B.Tech. (Chemical or Mechanical Engineering). The 2nd year of this programme will be conducted at Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute (CPPRI), Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Percentage of Marks
For admission to all the master's programmes, applicants should have a minimum of 50% marks in the qualifying examination (45% marks for SC/ST categories).
Selection will be based on the entrance examination to be held on 3rd May, 2026 at Dehradun, Jabalpur, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Jodhpur, Shimla, Ranchi, Coimbatore, Jorhat, Hyderabad.
The admission test will be an objective typewritten test of three hours with questions grouped under the following four sections: (i) Basic Sciences including Social Science (100 questions) (ii) Arithmetic and Quantitative abilities, Computational ability, Quantitative reasoning, Interpretation of Tables, Graphs, etc. (40 questions) (iii) General Knowledge and Current Affairs (30 questions) (iv) English Language, Comprehension, Vocabulary, Grammar, Idioms, etc. (30 questions). There will be negative marking for wrong answer to the extent of one-fourth (¼) of the marks allotted to the questions. Reservation
The reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD candidates in each programme shall be as per the policy of Government of India. Two seats in each M.Sc. programme over and above general seats are reserved for regular employees of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE) and its institutes.

One may apply for more than one course by submitting separate admission form and separate fee for each course.
Application fee for each programme is Rs. 1500/- to be paid by way of Bank Demand Draft drawn in favour of 'Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University', payable at Dehradun.
Filled application form along with DD should reach ‘Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University, P.O. IPE Kaulagarh Road, Dehradun, Uttarakhand -248195’ by 31st March, 2026.
In case a candidate has appeared for the degree examination required for admission but the result of the same has not been announced till the time of submission of application, the application form may still be completed in all other respects and may be submitted on or before the last date. The degree/result (mark sheet) should however be furnished as soon as it becomes available, which must reach the office of the Registrar, FRI Deemed to be University on or before the date fixed for admission, failing which he/she shall not be admitted treating his/her application for admission as incomplete.
Date of first counseling is 06th July, 2026 and date of second counseling is 10th July, 2026. Any changes on the dates will be updated on website www.fridu.edu.in
New session is expected to start on 16 July, 2026 (tentative).
