Four-year Degree: Syllabus yet to be published by three universities in Kerala

Kannur: Even as a week has passed since the universities in Kerala have begun accepting applications for four-year undergraduate courses, none with the exception of Kerala University have published their revised syllabus. This has placed students in a dilemma of having to apply for courses without taking a look at the syllabus. The syllabus for all the semesters should ideally be published before inviting applications for admission.
Colleges will begin the admission process by the second week of June. It has been decided to start the classes in July. Since this is the first time that four-year programmes are being offered, an entirely new syllabus is required. This needs to be prepared after detailed study, discussion and scrutiny. Kerala university began the procedures early on. Practical classes will be introduced from the first semester onwards for which colleges will need to be prepared.
Kannur University will be publishing the syllabus within two weeks. There are 72 Boards of Studies (BoS), of which 60 need to prepare the syllabus for the four-year-degree courses. Syllabus prepared by 16 BoS is before the scrutiny committee of the university. The academic council is scheduled to meet in June to review and approve the syllabus. The syllabus prepared by MG University will be scrutinised by the academic council and will be published after approval.
