Don’t repeat mistake on Waqf Board, warns IUML over reports on suggestion to change school timings

Kozhikode: A day after the Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama, an Islamic scholars body, came out against reports on the Khader Committee recommendations on school timings, Indian Union Muslim League has also reiterated fears that the changes would affect the theological classes of community members.
IUML general secretary PMA Salam called for widespread consultations before implementing the recommendations.
He said the government must not repeat the mistake on Waqf Board appointments, hinting at the U-turn of the government in handing over the recruitments of the religious body to PSC.
The Khader Committee, set up by the government to study school education, recently submitted the second report. Though it is not made available for the public, sources said it has recommended rescheduling the school timing from morning 8 to afternoon 1.
Madrasas in Kerala work early morning. If school timing is rescheduled, this will be affected.
Besides, it is likely that the government will face opposition from teachers as well against the recommendation. It is already facing issues in implementing the suggestions of the first report of the Khader committee.
