Central University of Kerala launches two new four-year undergraduate honours programmes

Kasaragod: The Central University of Kerala (CUK) has introduced two new four-year undergraduate honours programmes from the academic year 2026–27 to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for emerging careers in science and technology. The new programmes are B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics (Semiconductor), offered by the Department of Physics, and B.Sc. (Hons.) Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, offered by the Department of Computer Science.
Candidates who have appeared for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) are eligible to apply. Online registration can be completed through the University's official website, www.cukerala.ac.in, until 17 July 2026.
The B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics (Semiconductor) programme provides students with a strong foundation in physics while developing advanced scientific, computational, and analytical skills. Designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the curriculum integrates classroom learning with laboratory training, research projects, internships, multidisciplinary electives, and skill-based courses, offering a comprehensive and application-oriented learning experience.
Graduates of the programme can pursue higher studies, including M.Sc., Integrated Ph.D., and Ph.D. programmes, in leading institutions in India and abroad. The programme also prepares students for careers in research laboratories, the semiconductor industry, space and nuclear sciences, defence research, photonics, quantum technologies, renewable energy, medical physics, artificial intelligence, data science, and scientific instrumentation.
The B.Sc. (Hons.) Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme has been designed to meet the growing demand for professionals in the rapidly evolving digital economy. The curriculum combines a strong foundation in computer science with specialised training in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, and industry-oriented applications through project-based learning and internships.
The programme prepares graduates for careers as Data Scientists, AI Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts, AI Consultants, and Research Associates in leading technology companies, startups, research organisations, and government agencies. It also provides a strong academic foundation for higher studies, research, and entrepreneurial ventures.
