CBSE offers clarification, denies claims that OSM portal was compromised

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a clarification rejecting claims that its On Screen Marking (OSM) portal used for evaluation of answer scripts was compromised.

The clarification comes after a social media post alleged that a website linked to the system had been breached. CBSE stated that the URL cited in the post, http://cbse.onmarks.co.in, is only a testing platform used internally for sample data and review purposes, and does not contain any real examination data, marks, or student records.

The Board emphasised that the actual evaluation portal used for assessing answer books operates on a different system and has not been compromised. It added that no security breaches have been detected in the operational platform used for board examination evaluations.

CBSE further stated that the On Screen Marking system has been introduced to improve transparency in the assessment process and includes built-in grievance redressal mechanisms along with strong safeguards to maintain data integrity and security.

The clarification follows growing online controversy after a student, Vedant, claimed on social media platform X that his Class 12 Physics answer script appeared to contain handwriting that did not match his own. The post went viral, triggering wider concerns among students and parents about discrepancies in the newly implemented digital evaluation system.

Several other students have also reportedly raised similar concerns regarding answer scripts and marking inconsistencies following the recent Class 12 board results.
