TRAI invites applications for technical officer posts through GATE

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is recruiting engineering graduates as Technical Officer-2025 through GATE 2023/2024/2025.

TRAI is a statutory body established under an Act of Parliament to regulate telecommunications services, protect the interests of service providers and consumers, and promote/ensure orderly growth of the telecom sector. TRAI's key functions include tariff regulation, fostering fair competition, ensuring quality of service, monitoring compliance with license conditions, and encouraging technological advancement.

TRAI has invited applications from bright, young, energetic, and ambitious engineering graduates to fill six posts of Technical Officers (T0-2025) in level 10 of the 7th CPC with Central Dearness Allowance (CDA) on a direct recruitment basis. Posts, eligibility and the GATE test Paper required

(i) Technical Officer (Electronics and Communication Engineering)—Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology in Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognized University or equivalent with minimum 60% marks; GATE Paper- Electronics and Communication Engineering [GATE paper code- EC]

(ii) Technical Officer (Computer Science and Information Technology)- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology in Computer Science and Information Technology from a recognized University or equivalent with minimum 60% marks -Computer Science and Information Technology [GATE paper code- CS]

(iii) Technical Officer (Data Science and Artificial Intelligence)- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence from a recognized University or equivalent with minimum 60% marks; Data Science and Artificial Intelligence [GATE paper code- DA].

Equivalent acceptable subjects for the Essential Qualification Degree are specified in the Notification at https://www.trai.gov.in/vacancies. Candidates who have already acquired the essential qualification on or before 31.10.2025 will only be considered for this recruitment.

Relaxation of 5% in the minimum percentage of marks in essential qualification will be provided in respect of the SC, ST and PwBD categories. However, the above relaxation in the minimum qualifying percentage of marks in educational qualification is applicable only in respect of posts that are reserved for SC/ST/PwBD categories.

GATE year should be 2023/2024/2025.

Age limit: Maximum age 30 years as of 31.10.2025. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as detailed in the notification in respect of posts which are reserved for SC/ST/OBC(NCL) category candidates.

Selection process: Candidates will be shortlisted for personal interviews on the basis of merit prepared based on their valid score obtained in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2023/2024/2025. The final selection of the candidates will be purely on the basis of discipline-wise and category-wise merit of the aggregate of 80% weightage of marks of the GATE score and 20% weightage of marks in the personal interview, subject to medical fitness.

Applicants of General/OBC categories are required to make a payment of Rs.100/- towards the application fee with the applicable bank charges, latest by 23:00 hrs. on 04.01.2026. SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-serviceman applicants are exempted from the payment of Application Fee.
