Study Vessel Navigator, Marine Fitter courses at CIFNET
Applications have been invited for admission to the Vessel Navigator Course (VNC) and Marine Fitter Course (MFC) at Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET) at Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam Centres of the Institute.
The two years trade courses are conducted with practical training on board fishing vessel out at sea. These Courses have been introduced by DGET, New Delhi under Craftsmen Training Scheme of NCVT. Those completing the course successfully are eligible for CDC.
Eligibility: Applicant should have a pass in 10th Standard with 40% marks in Mathematics and Science separately. Those who are appearing for 10th exams during March, 2020 are also eligible.
Age: Applicant should be between 15 and 20 year of age as on 1st August 2020. Upper Age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST applicants.
Intake: VNC -20, MFC-20 at each centre (Gen/Gen-EWS/OBC/SC/ST-16 seats & State Government Sponsorship-4 seats at each centre preferably from fishermen community).
Mode of Selection: Selection will be based on an All India Common Entrance Test (CET) to be held at Kochi, Chennai, Vizag, Kolkata and Patna on a date to be notified later. Entrance examination will have Objective type questions from Mathematics, Science subjects and English language
Selected candidates will be paid Rs.1500/- per month as stipend and on completion of VNC/MFC, Post Intuitional Training will also be offered with stipend of Rs.20500/- pm and onetime Uniform allowance of Rs.2500/-
Application fee: Rs. 300/- for General/OBC and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST.

Application form and Prospectus can be had from the Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682016 on payment of Rs. 300/- (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST) by Demand Draft drawn in favour of Senior Administrative Officer, CIFNET payable at Ernakulam and a self addressed envelope with stamps worth Rs. 20/- affixed.
They can be obtained from CIFNET Offices at Kochi, Chennai (Director i/c, CIFNET, 59, S.N. Street, Royapuram, Chennai -600 013) or Visakhapatnam (Deputy Director i/c, CIFNET, Beach Road, Visakhapatnam-530001), on payment of the prescribed amount by cash.
Filled in application along with necessary documents like mark sheet, community certificate if SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/EWS etc., must reach ‘The Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Kochi-682016’, latest by 30th June, 2020.
