Vessel Navigator Course and Marine Fitter Courses at CIFNET
Central Institute of Fisheries Nautical and Engineering Training (CIFNET), Fine Arts Avenue, Cochin, Kerala - 682016, under the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries Animal Husbandry and Dairying; Government of India has invited applications for admission to the Vessel Navigator Course(VNC) and Marine Fitter Course (MFC) for the year 2024-25.
These are 2-years trade courses introduced by Directorate General of Training, Government of India, New Delhi under Craftsmen Training Scheme of NCVT, with practical training on board deep sea fishing vessels out at sea. The courses are Residential courses conducted at CIFNET Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam.
Eligibility: Applicant should have a Pass in 10th Standard with 40% marks in Mathematics and Science separately. Those appearing for 10th Class exams during 2024 are also eligible.
Age: Applicant should be between 15 to 20 years of age as on 1st August 2024. Upper Age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST categories.
Intake: There are 120 seats for the courses (VNC -20, MFC-20 at CIFNET Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam (Total 40 x 3 -120 seats). For each course, Gen/Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL/SC/ST seats will be 16 & State Government/UT Sponsorship seats will be 4 at each center preferably from fishermen community.
Selection: Selection will be based on an All India Common Entrance Test (CET) to be held at Kochi, Chennai, Visakhapatnam, KoIkata on 29.06.2024 (Saturday). Result of CET will be published on 07.07.2024 (Sunday) at www.cifnet.gov.in. Candidates should check the result and attend the Centralized Counselling for admission to be held on 18.7.2024 (Thursday) at CIFNET Kochi.
Stipend: The Selected candidates will be paid Rs.1500/- per month as stipend. On completion of VNC/MFC, post Institutional Training will also be offered based on the merit rank with stipend of Rs. 20500/- pm and one-time Uniform allowance of Rs. 2500/- with the bond duly signed by the Applicant/Parent.

Application Fee: Application fee is Rs. 350/- (Rs. 175/. for SC/ST) to be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Pay and Accounts Officer, Kochi’ payable at Ernakulam.
Filled in application along with necessary documents like copies of mark sheet (SSLC/HSC), valid community certificate if SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS and Original Demand Draft drawn in favour of Pay and Accounts Officer, Kochi must reach ‘The Director, CIFNET, Fine Arts Avenue, Foreshore Road, Kochi-682016’ latest by 14.6.2024.
