Three-year Diploma Course in Dramatics at National School of Drama
National School of Drama, an Autonomous Institute under Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India; Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road, New Delhi-110001 has invited applications for admission to the full time-residential, Three-year Diploma Course in Dramatics 2023-2026.
The course starts in September 2023 and aims at training students to become professionals in the area of Acting, Design, Direction and other theatre related disciplines. The three-year course will be consisting of 6 semesters of 20 weeks each. The course has the first three consecutive semesters in an integrated course and the next three consecutive semesters in the area of specialization either in Acting or in Design and Direction. The specialization in Design and Direction will only be available to 5 students.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University in India or abroad. Applicants should have participated in at least 6 different theatre productions. Applicant should have working knowledge of Hindi / English.
Age Limit: Minimum 18 years and maximum 30 years as on 01.07.2022. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC / ST and 3 years for OBC Non-creamy layer).
Selection: The selection is a two phase process. The candidate should appear for a preliminary examination and if selected then required to appear for a final examination workshop.
A preliminary examination/audition will be conducted in July, 2023 at 15 centres as per details in the Notification. Candidates will be intimated about date of the preliminary examination through e-mail and it will be also available in NSD website. The schedule is subject to change. Study Material and guidelines for preliminary examination /audition will be available on the website in June/July 2023.
The candidates qualifying in this test will have to attend a workshop of 5 days in New Delhi from 16 to 20 August, 2023 for their final selection. An Expert Committee constituted by NSD will assess the aptitude and talent of the candidates.
Financial Assistance: All selected students will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 9,500/- p.m. to meet their academic and related expenses.
Physical Fitness: The students selected for admission will be required to undergo a medical test for physical fitness.

Application fee of Rs. 50/- is to be paid online through UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card. Applicant need to attach document of proof of the theatre experience such as certificate of participation, brochure, leaflet, newspaper clips etc. and a recommendation letter from at least one Theatre Expert.
Foreign nationals have to apply through Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi as per the norms in this regard.
