Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute extends MFA application deadline to Feb 10

Kolkata: The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) has extended the last date to apply for admission to its Master of Fine Arts (MFA) programmes for the year 2026. Aspiring candidates can now submit applications online at https://applyadmission.net/srfti2026/
until 11.59 pm on February 10, 2026.
Applicants awaiting final results of their qualifying degrees may also apply, subject to conditions outlined in the official prospectus.
SRFTI offers MFA programmes across two wings: the Film Wing and Electronic & Digital Media (EDM) Wing.
Film Wing MFA Specializations:

- Cinematography
- Direction and Screenplay Writing
- Film Editing
- Producing for Film and Television
- Sound Recording and Design
EDM Wing MFA Specializations (Two-Year Programmes):
- Cinematography
- Directing and Producing
- Editing
- Management

Eligibility and selection process:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Those applying for Animation Cinema should demonstrate proficiency in drawing. The selection process includes a Preliminary Selection Test and a Final Test, each carrying a maximum of 100 marks.
Preliminary Test: Part A – General Aptitude Test; Part B – Common Subject Area Test. Scheduled for February 22, 2026, at centres nationwide.
Final Test: Shortlisted candidates will appear for written, practical, and/or interaction components in Kolkata.
Applications for three postgraduate programmes (Screen Acting, Screenwriting and Documentary Cinema) at the FTII centre in Itanagar are also open until February 10, 2026.
