Research Admissions at National Institute of Immunology New Delhi

National Institute of Immunology, an autonomous research institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India; Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi-110067; has invited applications for admission to Ph.D. Programme for the academic year 2024-25 (Monsoon-session).
Research at NII encompasses broad interdisciplinary areas of Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology and Computational Biology.
Minimum qualifications: Applicant should have M.Sc. in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics), M.Tech., M.B.B.S., M.Pharm., Integrated M.Sc., or equivalent qualification as per the norms of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi with at least 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) and Bachelor’s degree and 55% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Master’s degree. Five per cent relaxation in aggregate scores in Senior Secondary, Bachelor’s, and Master’s degrees will apply to applicants from OBC (NCL), SC/ST, PwD, and EWS categories. Rounding off the percentage score to the next integral value is not permitted.
Those appearing for the qualifying degree examination in the current academic year are eligible to apply, provided their course requirements will be completed by July 2024. They will be admitted provisionally pending satisfactory fulfilment of the eligibility requirements at the time of joining.
Reservations of seats: 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST, 27% for OBC (NCL), 10% for EWS and 5% for persons with disability (PwD).
Selection procedure: There will be 2 channels for selection. Channel 1: Computer-based Entrance Examination, NII-2024-25M (monsoon-session) to be conducted by NII at multiple centres across India on 28th April 2024 (Sunday).
Channel 2: Joint Graduate Entrance Examination in Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS-2024).
Applicants must appear in at least one of the two examinations mentioned above. Applicants will be short-listed for an interview based on their scores in NII-2024-25M or JGEEBILS-2024.
Candidates selected will be enrolled for the PhD programme of NII in academic affiliation with JNU, New Delhi. The programme will start on 01st July 2024 (Monday).
NII currently provides the selected candidates a Junior Research Fellowship of Rs.37000/- per month. Awardees of fellowships from CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT and/or DST, may avail them as per the rules of the respective funding agency. NII is a residential campus and shared hostel accommodation will be provided to all the students admitted to the program.

Admit cards for NII Entrance Examinations will be available for download from 08.04.2024. The result of the Entrance test will be announced on 06.05.2024. The list of candidates short-listed for interviews shall be available on the NII website and Notice Board on or before 06th May 2024. First Round Online interviews will be held from 04.06.2024 to 06.06.2024 and second round Online interviews, from 10.06.2024 to 12.06.2024. The final list of Selected candidates will be displayed on the NII website and notice board of the institute within a week of the final interview.
