Research Admissions at National Institute of Technology Agartala

National Institute of Technology (NIT) Agartala; Borjala, Jirania, Tripura-799046; has invited applications for admission to Ph.D Programme for the Academic session January-June 2024.

PhD Program is offered in the Departments of (i) Civil Engineering (ii) Mechanical Engineering (iii) Electrical Engineering (iv) Computer Science & Engineering (v) Production Engineering (vi) Electronics & Communication Engineering (vii) Chemical Engineering (viii) Bioengineering (ix) Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (x) Physics (xi) Chemistry (xii) Mathematics and (xiii) Management, Humanities & Social Sciences. The broad areas of research in each department are given in the detailed Notification at https://admission.nita.ac.in/ 

Eligibility: For admission, applicant must satisfy the specified criteria with specified marks/grade:

(i) Engineering: Applicant must possess one of the following qualifications with specified marks/grade: (i) Master's Degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area (ii) Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/ Technology from a centrally funded Technical Institute and valid GATE score tenable for the year of admission (iii) Master's Degree in relevant science discipline. Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates. However, for availing scholarship of MHRD (now MoE), GATE score is mandatory.

(ii) Science: Applicant must have one of the following (i) Master's degree in Sciences with a GATE or UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM eligibility tenable for the year of admission. Preference will be given to GATEA qualified candidates (ii) Master's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent. Preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates (iii) B.Tech/ B.E degree from a centrally funded technical institute with a valid GATE score.

(iii) Humanities & Social Sciences: Master’s degree in relevant discipline with a UGC/CSIR-NET/NBHM eligibility tenable for the year of admission. The relevant discipline of research will include English; Economics; Commerce; Finance; Foreign Trade; Business Management; Geography; Rural Management &. Development; Sociology and others as per requirement of the Department, which will be notified from time to time. Preference will be given to NET qualified candidates. 

(iv) Management: MBA/P.G. Diploma in Management of 2-year duration. Preference will be given to GATE / NET qualified candidates.

Application can be submitted online at https://admission.nita.ac.in/ latest by 1.1.2024. 

One can apply for more than one Program. Separate registration and application fee is required for each programme. The provisionally short-listed candidates will be required to appear for the written test to be conducted by the Institute. The candidates qualifying the written test will appear for interview. Provisional selection will be made on the basis of academic performance of the candidates, publication and availability of seats.
