Research Admission at Institute of Advanced Virology, Thiruvananthapuram
Institute of Advanced Virology (IAV), an autonomous institution under Science & Technology Department Government of Kerala, Bio 360 Life Sciences Park, Thiruvananthapuram - 695317 has invited applications for admission to its Ph.D Programme in various domains of Virology, for 2023-24.
The Institute focuses on conducting advanced research in diagnosis and management of emerging and re-emerging infectious viral diseases. The Institute is affiliated with Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad and Cochin University of Science & Technology for its academic programmes.
Vacancies are available in the Departments of General Virology; Virus Applications; Viral Vaccines; Antiviral Research and Viral Diagnostics.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold MSc or an equivalent degree in Life Sciences or MVSc /MBBS or an equivalent degree with 60% or equivalent grade (5% relaxation for OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/PWD)
Applicant should hold JRF having validity of five years from CSIR/UGC / DST-INSPIRE/ DBT-/ICMR/other Govt. agencies. Those admitted have to avail the fellowship for which they are qualified as per the rules of the funding agency. IAV will not be providing any fellowship to the students.

One can opt up to three departments in the order of preference based on their research interest.
Those in their final semester/awaiting results and those awaiting results for grant of fellowship can also apply. However, they have to produce the degree certificate/ proof of award of fellowship at the time of interview and have to submit an undertaking in this regard while applying.
Applicant has to submit a scanned copy of one-page statement of purpose (handwritten only) about the area of research planned to be carried out at the Institute along with the application.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for an in-person interview. The interview for the shortlisted candidates will be conducted on 06 & 07 July 2023.
Final selection will be based on the performance in the interview and vacancy in the department opted for.
The selected candidates have the choice to register for PhD either at RCB or CUSAT as per the guidelines of the respective universities.
The PhD programme will commence on 1st August 2023.
