Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur (Formerly Bengal Engineering & Science University,Shibpur) P.O :Botanic Garden, Howrah, West Bengal -711 103, has invited applications for admission to PhD Programme in all disciplines of Engineering & Technology, Science, Architecture& Planning and Humanities & Social Sciences, December Cycle 2023.
Ph.D Programs are offered in the Departments of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics; Architecture, Town and Regional Planning; Chemistry; Civil Engineering; Computer Science and Technology; Earth Sciences; Electrical Engineering; Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering; Humanities and Social Sciences; Information Technology; Mathematics; Mechanical Engineering; Metallurgy and Materials Engineering; Mining Engineering; Physics; Centre for Healthcare Science and Technology; School of Advanced Materials, Green Energy and Sensor Systems; School of VLSI Technology; School of Community Science & Technology; School of Mechatronics & Robotics.
Category of Applications: Admissions will be offered in the following categories (i) Regular Candidates with Institute fellowship (ii) Candidates with Individual Fellowship (CSIR–NET JRF/UGC–NET JRF/ICMR/DST-INSPIRE etc.) (iii) Candidates from Sponsored Research Project (iv) Sponsored Candidates
Eligibility: The Ph.D. program shall be open to candidates of any Nationality.
Essential qualifications for all categories: Applicant should possess M.Tech. / M.E. / M.Sc.(Engg.) / M.Arch. / M.U.R.P. / M.Plan. / M.T.R.P. / M.Sc. / M.A. or an equivalent postgraduate degree in the relevant branch from a recognized University/Institute with minimum 60% marks/6.5 CGPA/DGPA on a 10-point scale (55% marks or minimum 6.0 CGPA/ DGPA on 10-point scale for SC/ST/ Person with Disability (PwD) category) throughout from class X to the qualifying degree. Details of research specialization with allied branches and degrees to be considered, are given in the Information brochure.
Age limit: In case of those with Institute Fellowship, Upper age limit is 30 years for OC Male applicants. For SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PwD) and Female applicants, it is 35 years and for OBC (NCL) applicants, it is 33 years as on last date of application.
For those with Individual Fellowship and under sponsored Research Project, upper age limit will be as per guidelines of funding agency. For Sponsored Candidates it will be as per guidelines of sponsoring organization.

Application: Application has to be submitted online through the link provided for it in the notification, by 11.59 pm on November 07, 2023.
Application fee is Rs.1500/‐ (Rs.1000/‐ for SC/ST/PwD candidates). One can apply to more than one department but separate application and fee has to be paid for each department.
Applicants are also required to download a pdf copy of PhD admission form attached with this notice, fill in the form and upload a copy of the same while submitting the online application.
