PhD admission at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science Jadavpur
Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), a Deemed to be University, Jadavpur, Kolkata-700032; has invited applications for admission to the regular full-time PhD program for the academic year 2024-25, session starting in August 2024.
Ph.D Programs are offered under Schools of Applied and Interdisciplinary Sciences, Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Material Sciences, Mathematical and Computational Sciences and Physical Sciences.
Eligibility: Applicant must be an Indian citizen. Applicants should hold a Master’s Degree with 55% marks or equivalent for general category and 50% for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Differently-abled and other categories. Qualification and eligibility requirements for each School are given in the detailed notification at https://www.iacs.res.in/
Age limit: Applicant should be below 28 years on the closing date of application. Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rule.
Selection: Applicants will be shortlisted by different Schools on the basis of merit. Only shortlisted candidates will be informed via email and called for a written test and/or interview (to be decided by the School) for the final selection.
Vacancies given for each School are based on the number of positions available in individual research groups in different research areas. Selection depends on the past academic record, performance in the appropriate national level examination, performance in examination/interview by the School and also the availability of posts in particular research areas as opted by the shortlisted candidate.
Relaxation in selection criteria for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Differently-abled and other categories will be as per norms of UGC and Government of India.
Fellowship will be as per IACS/CSIR/UGC/INSPIRE rules.

Application/Examination Fees is Rs. 1200/- (Rs. 600/- for SC/ST candidates) to be transferred electronically to the specified account of IACS as given in the Notification.
Interview will be between 02-16 May, 2024 (tentative). Exact date and time of Admission Test/or Interview for each School will be announced on the IACS website.
