Admissions open at Regional Centre for Biotechnology for PG Diploma in Industrial Biotechnology

Regional Centre for Biotechnology; an Institution of National Importance created by an Act of Parliament, established by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India, under the auspices of UNESCO; NCR Biotech Science Cluster, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad-Gurugram Expressway, Faridabad - 121 001, Haryana (NCR Delhi), India has invited applications for admission to the Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Biotechnology (PGDIB).

RCB has launched the 'Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Biotechnology' program to train students in a variety of industry-relevant courses. This course will provide students with the required knowledge and skills for producing, testing, licensing, packaging, and releasing biotech and biopharmaceutical products. The program’s goal is to prepare students for careers in industry, bridging the gap between industry and academics. 

The programme duration is one academic year and will have one semester (six months) of coursework physically at RCB, Faridabad, followed by second semester comprising of hands-on training and a 3-4 months’ internship programme in various industries or academia. Curriculum

General Courses include Clinical Research Regulations; Quality Control and Assurance; Research Methodology, Biostatistics & Basics of Information Technology; Vaccine Technology; General Principles of Intellectual Property; Scale-Up and Bioprocess Technology; Analytical Techniques; Basic Concepts Drug Discovery and Development; Session Soft Skill; Practical Modules; Internship. 

Elective Courses

Commercial Manufacturing; Discovery and Development; Regulatory Affairs; Quality Assurance and Quality Control (4 credits) 

Eligibility

Applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering or Medicine or an equivalent degree with the minimum of 50 % marks. Those with additional qualifications and a strong interest in the subject may also apply. 

There are 30 seats for the Program. Reservation of seats will be as per Government of India guidelines. 

Fee

The fee for the programme is Rs.1.00 Lakh to be paid in 3 instalments as follows: 1st instalment - Rs. 10000/- non-refundable, to be paid while accepting the offer in December 2024; 2nd Instalment -Rs.45000/- to be paid in January 2025; 3rd Instalment - Rs.45000/- to be paid in April 2025. 

Application

Applications can be submitted online at https://pgdib.rcb.ac.in latest by November 25, 2024. Application fee is Rs. 500/-. SC/ST/PwBD/EWS candidates are exempted from payment of application fee. 

Selection

Written test/interview (physical) will be held during December 9-10, 2024. Final results will be declared and offers sent to selected candidates on December 13, 2024. Selected candidates have to accept offer by email and pay fees of Rs.10000/- online by December 20, 2024. 

Offers will be sent to waitlisted candidates on December 23, 2024. Deadline for waitlisted candidates to accept offer by email and pay fees of Rs.10000/- online will be December 26, 2024.

Registration and enrolment for those who have accepted the offer will be on January 2, 2025.

Orientation will be on January 6, 2025. Course commences on the same day. 

The admission fee includes hostel accommodation (sharing basis) till completion of coursework except for the hostel maintenance charge of Rs.200/- per month and electricity bill (to be paid as per actuals).
