National School of Drama admissions open: Apply now for theatre courses across India

National School of Drama (NSD), Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road New Delhi-110001, has invited applications for the Joint Entrance Examination for admission to various courses for 2025-26.
Applications have been invited for admission to the following courses:
Three Year Diploma Course in Dramatics (New Delhi): Full time residential course aimed at training students to become professionals in the area of Acting, Design, Direction and other theatre related disciplines.
One Year Certificate Course in Dramatic Art (Gangtok, Sikkim): The course aims at training students to become professionals in the area of acting, design and other theatre related disciplines.
One Year Certificate Course in Acting (Bengaluru, Karnataka): The course aims at training, students to become professionals’/resource persons in the field of Acting.
One Year Certificate Course in Indian Classical Theatre (Varanasi, U. P.): The course aims at training students to become professional’s/ resource persons in the field of Indian Classical Theatre.
One Year Certificate Course in Theatre-in-Education (Agartala, Tripura): The course is conducted in collaboration with Department of Information & Cultural Affairs and Higher Education, Govt. of Tripura. The course aims to prepare drama teachers for schools and Artists for T.I.E activities.
Age limit for all courses: Minimum 18 years and Maximum 30 years as on 01/07/2025. The upper age limit is relaxable for reserved category candidates as per Govt. of India rules (5 years for SC / ST and 3 years for OBC Non-creamy layer).
Eligibility for admission for all the courses: Essential Qualifications: Graduation in any stream from a recognized University in India.
Additional requirements: (i) For three-year course: Applicants should have participated in at least 6 different theatre productions. They should attach document of proof of the theatre experience such as certificate of participation, brochure, leaflet, newspaper clips etc. (ii) For all one year courses: Applicants should have participated in at least 4 plays. They should attach document proof of experience such as Certificate of Participation, Brochure, Leaflet, Newspaper clips, etc.
Working knowledge of Hindi /English for course at Delhi, Varanasi and Tripura Centres, Kannada/English/Hindi for course at Bengaluru Centre and proficiency in mother tongue and working knowledge of Hindi /English for course at Sikkim Centre.
The medium of instruction is Hindi/ English, depending on the subject. For Bengaluru Centre, the medium of instruction will be Kannada/English/Hindi.
Selection: Selection is based on Joint Entrance Examination for all five courses. The selection is a two-phase process. Candidate should appear for a preliminary examination at given time and place and if selected they are required to appear for a final examination/workshop. Physical fitness: The students selected for admission will be required to undergo a medical test for physical fitness in NSD campus/empanelled hospital before they join the campus for classes/activities in the School.

Application fee of Rs. 50/- is to be paid online through UPI, Net Banking, Credit Card or Debit Card.
Financial Assistance: All admitted students in Three Year Diploma Course will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 9, 500/- to meet their academic/training and related expenses for the period of the course. All admitted students in all One Year Certificate Courses will be given a monthly scholarship of Rs. 6,000/- to meet their academic/training and other expenses for the period of the course.
