MBBS admissions open at AFMC Pune with service in Armed Forces on completion

Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, affiliated with Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, and recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC), has released the information brochure for admission to the MBBS course at the college for 2025-26.
A total of 145 medical cadets (115 boys & 30 girls) will be admitted for the year 2025 as medical cadets to undergo MBBS at the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, with liability to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services as medical officers. Up to 10 seats out of 145 are offered to candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST), subject to the provisions stated in the Information Brochure. The candidates selected, in addition to becoming doctors, will also be commissioned as officers of the Indian Armed Forces.
Eligibility: Applicant should be an unmarried citizen of India. Marriage during the course is not permitted. The applicant should have attained the age of 17 years by 31 December 2025 and must not have attained the age of 24 years on that date (born not earlier than 01 January 2002 and not later than 31 December 2008).
The applicant must have passed one of the qualifying examinations listed in the information brochure, which includes the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination, in the first attempt with English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology taken simultaneously and securing not less than 60% aggregate marks in these three science subjects taken together and not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in each of the science subjects. They must have also passed an examination in mathematics of the tenth standard. The applicant should have qualified for the NEET UG 2025 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Eligible candidates who are interested in joining AFMC, Pune, to pursue the MBBS course will have to mandatorily register and apply for AFMC, Pune, on the DGHS website, https://mcc.nic.in during the registration window provided by the DGHS after the declaration of the result of NEET UG 2025.
The list of candidates who have applied for AFMC, Pune, will be provided by DGHS to AFMC. The NEET roll number of the candidates who are shortlisted for the screening at AFMC, Pune, based on merit will be displayed on the website. Approximately 2000 candidates (1600 boys and 400 girls) will be called for the screening. The exact schedule of the screening at AFMC, Pune along with the details of the shortlisted candidates, will be available at www.afmcdg1d.gov.in
Shortlisted candidates will be called for screening, which comprises the Test of English Language and Reasoning (ToELR), Psychological Assessment Test (PAT), interview, and medical examination at AFMC, Pune. The Test of English Language and Reasoning (ToELR) will be in the form of a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 40 MCQs of 2.0 marks each, amounting to a maximum of 80 marks to be answered in 30 minutes, and will be held at AFMC, Pune. There will be negative marks of 0.5 for every incorrect answer. This will be followed by an interview of 50 marks. In addition to the core subject, the candidates will be interviewed on general awareness and knowledge, interests, hobbies, and personality by a panel of judges. Weightage will be given to candidates for participation in NCC/sports at various levels and for wards of officers/JCOs/OR who are serving/ex-servicemen/killed in action. The final merit will be based on the total score of NEET UG 2025, TOELR, and the interview. The Psychological Assessment Test (PAT) is a qualifying examination, and its score will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.
All candidates will be subjected to medical examination as per the requirement of the Armed Forces and as per the laid-down standards. The final result of the selected Merit List and Wait-list candidates would be available on the DGAFMS official website: https://www.afmcdg1d.gov.in/ and https://afmc.nic.in/
At the time of admission, parents/guardians of the candidates are required to sign a bond agreement for Rs 69,00,000/-. Any candidate withdrawing from the college after 7 days of admission [after 1600hrs (4 pm)] will have to pay bond money as per existing rules.
Those admitted to AFMC for the MBBS course have a compulsory liability to serve as commissioned officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services. The offer of the type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and shall be determined on merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination. The liability of the Short Service Commission (SSC) officers passing out of AFMC to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) would be 7 years. The Permanent Commission (PC) officers will have to serve in AFMS till the date of superannuation.
