Fashion designing admission 2025 begins at government and private institutes in Kerala: Apply now

Applications have been invited by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, for admission to the 2-year Programme in Fashion Designing and Garment Technology (FDGT) for 2025-26 being conducted at the 42 Government Institute of Fashion Designing (GIFD) and 86 Government-approved Private Fashion Designing and Garment Technology (FDGT) Institutes across Kerala. In addition to this, there are 2 Fashion Designing and Garment Technology Centres under STDD Kerala.

This is a course that scientifically studies clothing design, manufacturing, decoration, and marketing. Along with gaining expertise in traditional clothing manufacturing, the program will also help in gaining proficiency in computer-aided fashion designing. The program will help in understanding the new trends that emerge in this field from time to time and in developing and recreating it in one's own way. The course, which emphasizes practical skills, will also include a six-week industry internship, computer-aided fashion designing, and English and workplace skills training to enhance personality and English language skills.
There will be a public examination at the end of the first year and the second year. Those successfully completing the course will be given the Certificate in Fashion Designing & Garment Technology under the Kerala Government Technical Examination (KGTE) scheme.
Eligibility: Applicant should have passed the SSLC/equivalent with eligibility for higher studies. There is no upper age limit for admissions.

The applicant must first register on the portal. For registration, a valid mobile number and email ID must be provided. An application fee of Rs. 100/- (Rs. 50/- for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes) must be paid online. After completing the one-time registration by providing the required information, a system-generated registration number will be obtained. Those who intend to apply for this program run by private institutions approved by DTE must also complete a one-time registration. After registration, they must log in to the website using the OTP received on their mobile number.
There are separate application links for government institutions and private institutions. Those desirous of applying to more than one government institution should select the institutions and give options to them. For private institutes, a separate application has to be submitted for each institute. This can be done till the closing of admissions.
The last date of the one-time registration fee remittance & application submission is 10.07.2025.
Admissions will be prepared by considering the grades received in the SSLC/equivalent examination.
The provisional rank list will be published on 14.7.2025. It will be available on the Notice Board of the Institutions. Complaints on the provisional rank list can be submitted till 17.7.2025. The rank list and allotment will be published on 22.7.2025. The last date for candidates to join the institute based on the allotment will be 28.7.2025. Classes will commence on 28.7.2025. Spot admissions will be conducted from 4.8.2025 to 8.8.2025.
Fee structure in government institutions will be as follows: Admission fee: Rs. 145; Special Fees (yearly): Rs. 220; Caution deposit: Rs. 300. For private institutes, the admission fee is Rs. 125, the tuition fee (yearly) is Rs. 15000, and the permanent examination registration fee is Rs. 275.
Admission to the Fashion Designing and Garment Technology Centres under STDD Kerala will be conducted by the respective institutions.
