IUCAA invites applications for post-doctoral fellowships: Apply now

The Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) has invited applications from highly motivated researchers for its Post-Doctoral Programme.

These postdoctoral fellows will be working closely with an IUCAA faculty member on a specific project/research problem.

Tenure is 2 years, extendable up to a maximum of three years based on performance.

Monthly remuneration is Rs. 67,000/-. The Contingency Grant is Rs. 40,000/- per year. Rent-free accommodation is provided on campus, subject to availability. Alternatively, a House Rent Allowance (HRA) is paid as per the prevailing rules of the Institute/funding agency. Postdoctoral fellows can also avail of medical and other benefits as per IUCAA/Government of India norms. IUCAA also provides other on-campus facilities such as a recreation and sports centre, medical and counselling services and childcare facilities.

Those who have submitted/defended their Ph.D. thesis and have excellent CVs are eligible to apply.

Applications are encouraged from women and other underrepresented groups.

After the application is submitted, an acknowledgment will be sent to the applicant. Emails will also be sent to the referees mentioned by the applicant, requesting them to submit a confidential assessment report about the applicant online. For this purpose, they will be provided with a separate interface at the website as well as a login and password. The applicant should keep checking with the referees periodically to find if they have uploaded their reports.

The last date for submitting referees' reports is September 24, 2025.

Selected candidates will be informed before the end of October 2025.

Those selected are expected to join IUCAA on or after January 1, 2026.
