IIM Kozhikode invites applications for PhD in Management, details inside

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode; IIMK Campus P. O, Kozhikode, Kerala-673 570; has invited applications for its PhD Programme in Management for 2025. 

Applications are invited for the following areas of specializations

(i) Economics (ii) Finance, Accounting & Control (iii) Humanities and Liberal Arts in Management (iv) Information Systems (v) Marketing Management (vi) Organizational Behaviour & Human Resources (vii) Quantitative Methods & Operations Management (viii) Strategic Management

Academic Eligibility

Applicant should have one of the following educational qualifications: (a) Post-graduate degree or equivalent in any discipline (including M.A., M.Com., M.E., M.Phil., M.Sc., M.Tech., MBA, MCA, etc.) with at least 55% aggregate/equivalent (b) Professional qualification such as CA/ICWA/CS along with a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% aggregate/equivalent in the Bachelor’s degree (c) 4-year / 8-semester Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 75% aggregate/equivalent. Those belonging to SC/ST/PwD/NC-OBC/EWS categories will be given a relaxation of 5%/equivalent in the minimum eligibility marks.

Those appearing for the final exams can also apply. Final selection will be subject to successful completion of the requirement by June 30, 2025. Their admission will be provisional till they produce the required certificates of qualification by 31 December 2025. In the case of CA/ICWA/CS, the applicant should have completed the course when applying to the Ph.D. programme.

Qualifying Examination

Except for those opting for IIMB Test, being conducted by IIM Bangalore, those applying should have a valid test score not older than three years as on the closing date of submission of application in any of the following tests depending on the area of specialization: (i) Economics- CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-NET [Those applying for the Economics area need to go through a written test by IIMK which will be conducted along with the interview] (ii) Finance, Accounting and Control -CAT , GATE, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-JRF (in Management, Economics and Commerce only) (iii) Humanities and Liberal Arts in Management-CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-NET (preferably in but not restricted to English / Linguistics / Law / Political Science / Psychology / Public Administration / Social Work / Sociology / Comparative Literature) (iv) Information Systems -CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-JRF, UGC-NET (v) Marketing Management- CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-JRF (vi) Organizational Behaviour & Human Resources- CAT, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-JRF (vii) Quantitative Methods & Operations Management-CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-JRF (viii) Strategic Management-CAT, GATE, GMAT, GRE, IIMB Test, UGC-JRF. 

Those holding a PGDM (full-time 2-year program)/MBA degree from any of the IIMs or an Executive PGDM/MBA degree from IIM Kozhikode are exempted from taking the tests mentioned above. However, such candidates must have an overall CGPA of at least 2.67/4.33 or equivalent to a B- (B minus) grade in the PGDM/MBA/IIMK Executive PGDM course. Application

Application can be submitted online at https://www.iimk.ac.in/ (Program> Doctoral Program in Management > PhD Admissions 2025 link) latest by 23:59 Hours on January 31, 2025. Those opting to take the IIMB Test being conducted by IIM Bangalore should choose this option in the application. The last date for registering for the IIMB Test scheduled to be held on 02 February 2025 is 24th January 2025. One may apply to two academic areas of specialization as part of their application. Such candidates must identify their primary and secondary areas of specialization in the application form. Application fee is Rs. 1,000/- for applying to a single academic area and Rs. 1,500/- for applying to two academic areas, which has to be remitted online through the link provided with the application form.

Interview will be during April 15-19, 2025 (tentative) at IIMK Campus.

Those selected are exempted from paying tuition and other related fees. Financial support includes (i) a stipend of Rs. 42,000/- per month for the first & second years, Rs. 45,000/ per month on successful completion of Comprehensive examination and Rs. 50,000/- per month after successful presentation and defense of Thesis proposal (ii) contingency grant of Rs. 1,20,000/- for 4 years (iii) A grant of Rs.1,75,000/- to attend an international conference and a grant of Rs. 20,000/- for attending national conferences.
