UG/PG admissions at FDDI: Apply by April 15

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), an institution of National Importance, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and having campuses at  Noida, Fursatganj, Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Jodhpur, Chhindwara, Guna, Ankleshwar, Hyderabad, Patna and Chandigarh, has invited applications for admission to various courses offered by it for 2020-21.

Programmes: Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programmes are of 4 years duration (8 Semesters) and are offered in (i) Footwear Design & Production (ii) Leather Goods & Accessories Design and (iii) Fashion Design. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) (Retail & Fashion Merchandise) Programme is of 3 Years (6 Semesters) duration.

Master of Design (M.Des) Programme is offered in Footwear Design & Production and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Programme, in Retail & Fashion Merchandise. Both Programmes are of 2 years (4 semesters) duration.

Eligibility: For admission to the Bachelor Degree Programmes (B.Des / BBA), applicant should have passed, 10+2, in any stream, from any recognized Board; or any School or Board or University examination in India or in foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system or School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects or All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approved three years full time Diploma after Class X offered by Board of Technical Education of any state or Union territory.

The upper age limit for admission to the Bachelor’s programme is 25 years as on 1 July 2020.

For admission to Master of Design (M. Des) in Footwear Design & Production, applicant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Footwear/Leather Goods/Design/ Fashion/Fine arts/ Architecture/ Engineering/Production/Technology.

For admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Retail & Fashion Merchandise, applicant should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline. There is no upper age limit for admission to PG Programmes.

Those who have appeared for the qualifying examination and whose result has not been declared at the time of admission, can apply provisionally subject to submission of result of the requisite examination on or before the 30th day of September 2020.

Applicants are expected to possess good communication skills in English.

Selection process: For all Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) Programmes, all eligible applicants have to go through a Paper Based Test (PBT) to be held on 24th May 2020 at 31 cities.

Test cities are : Ankleshwar (FDDI Campus), Agra, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh (FDDI Campus), Chhindwara (FDDI Campus), Chennai (FDDI Campus), Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Fursatganj (FDDI Campus), Guna (FDDI Campus), Gwalior, Hyderabad (FDDI Campus), Indore, Jaipur, Jodhpur (FDDI Campus), Jamshedpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kanpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, Noida (FDDI Campus), Pune, Patna (FDDI Campus), Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak (FDDI Campus) and Vishakhapatnam.

For admission to the Bachelor’s Programme, the test will have 4 sections. Section A is Quantitative Aptitude with 25 questions of 2 marks each. Section B is Verbal Ability. It will have 10 questions of 2 marks each from verbal ability and 30 questions of 1 mark each from Grammar, Language etc.  Section C is General Awareness with 50 questions of 1 mark each. Section D is Business Aptitude Test with 15 questions of 2 marks each and 20 questions of 1 mark each.

The written examination for admission to the Masters Programme will have 4 sections. Section A will have questions from Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions of 2 marks each); Section B, English Comprehension & Analytical Ability (50,1); Section C, General Knowledge & Current Affairs (50, 1) and Section D, Management Aptitude Test (50,1)

Application fee of Rs. 500/- has to be paid through online payment gateway only using Credit Cards/Debit Cards. Applicants may keep a printout/photocopy of Application form for further reference along with proof of payment.

Window to edit / update the Application Form will be active from 1200 hrs on 16th April, 2020 till 1600 hrs on 17th April, 2020.

Admit Card for the AIST will be available from 30 April 2020.

Merit list will be displayed on the website on 5th June, 2020. Counselling will be held during the end of June, 2020.
