Admissions open at food craft institutes in Kerala: Apply by 5 June 2025

The Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala, has opened admissions for various one-year diploma programmes at Food Craft Institutes (FCIs) functioning across 13 centres in the state. These courses are designed to equip students with industry-ready skills in the hospitality sector, and applications are being accepted until 5 PM on 5 June 2025 via https://fcikerala.org.

  • Front Office Operation
  • Food Production
  • Hotel Accommodation Operation
  • Bakery and Confectionery
  • Canning & Food Preservation

Each course runs for 12 months, including 9 months of classroom instruction and 3 months of Industrial Exposure Training.

Eligibility:

  • Must have passed Plus Two (12th standard) or an equivalent course.
  • Candidates who took more than three attempts to clear the qualifying examination are not eligible.

Admission criteria:

  • Merit-based on Plus Two marks.
  • Penalty marks: 5 marks deducted for those who passed in the second attempt, and 10 marks for third attempt.
  • Tiebreakers: fewer attempts to pass, higher English marks, and age (in that order).
  • Reservations as per government norms. SC/ST priority will be given at the Palakkad centre.

Fee & concessions:

  • Application Fee: Rs. 100 (Rs. 50 for SC/ST candidates).
  • SC/ST/OEC students get full fee waivers and stipends.
  • OBC/General candidates may receive fee concessions per government rules.

Offline submission is permitted at the centre where admission is sought.
