BDes, MDes admissions open at Footwear Design and Development Institute for 2025, apply now

Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI), under the aegis of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India functioning with major objectives of developing Human Resources within the country by imparting appropriate knowledge and skills to promote the rapid growth of footwear and allied industry, providing and developing appropriate infrastructure for the Indian footwear industry and promoting the growth of export production of quality footwear and allied products from the country, has invited applications for admission to various courses for 2025.
Centres
FDDI Centres are located at Noida, Fursatganj (Raebareli), Chennai, Kolkata, Rohtak, Jodhpur, Chhindwara, Guna, Ankleshwar (Surat), Patna, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.
Programs
FDDI offers Bachelors (4 Years/8 Semesters duration) and Masters programmes (2 years) in different areas.
Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) Programmes are offered in Footwear Design & Production; Fashion Design; Leather, Lifestyle and Product Design. Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is offered in Retail & Fashion Merchandise.
Eligibility for admission to B.Des. / BBA: Applicant should have passed, 10+2, in any stream, from any recognized Board or any School or Board or University examination in India or in foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system or should hold a 3 years full time Diploma after Class X recognised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)/Board of Technical Education of any state or Union territory. The age limit for the Bachelor’s programme will be 25 years as on 1.7.2025.
Eligibility for admission to Master Degree Programmes: For admission to (i) Master of Design (M. Des.) in Footwear Design & Production (ii) Master of Design (M.Des.) in Fashion Design and (iii) Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Retail & Fashion Merchandise, applicant should have Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from any recognised Institute / University. However, the bridge programme comprising of two to three relevant subjects may be offered for those admitted to M. Des. in Footwear Design & Production who does not have any design background to provide necessary design inputs to understand the design concepts.
There is no age limit for admission to Masters Programs.
Those appearing for final examinations of the qualifying course, can also apply for admission subject to conditions specified in the Prospectus.
Selection
Selection to all Programs will be based on All India Selection Test (AIST) 2025 to be conducted by FDDI on 11th May 2025. For B.Des. / BBA; AIST will have questions in 4 sections (i) Analytical Ability (ii) Business Aptitude Test and Design Aptitude Test (iii) General Awareness (iv) Comprehension, Grammar, Usage, etc. For M.Des. / MBA, questions will be 4 sections (i) Analytical Ability (ii) English Comprehension & Grammar (iii) General Knowledge & Current Affairs (iv) Management Aptitude Test and Design Aptitude Test.
All eligible candidates with any valid National level entrance examination score card is also allowed to participate in Admission process for UG & PG programmes. The criteria for processing score obtained against the FDDI AIST Rank is described in the Prospectus 2025.
Application
Applications for AIST can be submitted online at the admission link of https://www.fddiindia.com/ latest by 20th April 2025. Application Fee for AIST/National level entrance examination entries will be Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/- for SC/ ST/ PWD Categories). Application for AIST 2025 can also be submitted with additional late fee of Rs. 800/- (Rs. 400/- for SC/ ST/ PWD Category) by 30th April 2025.
