Apply for full-time PG diploma at Tamil Nadu Institute of Archaeology and Museology

The Tamil Nadu Institute of Archaeology and Museology, Department of Archaeology, Government of Tamil Nadu, has invited applications for admission to the one-year (2025-2026) & two-year (2025-2027) full-time postgraduate diploma courses.

Programs and eligibility are as follows:

PG Diploma courses: (i) Post-Graduate Diploma in Archaeology -Any Post-Graduate Degree (ii) Post-Graduate Diploma in Epigraphy- A Post Graduate Degree in Tamil/ Indian History/ History/ Ancient History and Archaeology/ History and Archaeology (iii) Post-Graduate Diploma in Heritage Management and Museology - B.E Civil Engineering or any Post - Graduate Degree in Humanities/ Social / Chemical/ Physical / Biological /Geo

Medium of Teaching for all these 3 Programs will be Tamil and English

Selection process: Screening test (100 Multiple Choice Questions) and Direct Interview on the following subjects- Tamil Literature, History, Archaeology, Recent Archaeological Excavations (Tamil Nadu and India), Epigraphy, Architecture, Iconography, Numismatics, Museology, Conservation and Preservation of Historical Monuments.

Post Graduate Diploma in Manuscriptology (1 Year)- Post - Graduate Degree in Tamil. Medium of Teaching will be Tamil.

Selection will be based on Screening test (100 Multiple Choice Questions) and Direct Interview on the following subjects- Tamil Literature, Grammar & Manuscriptology.

Screening test will be on 20.07.2025 (Sunday) at: Chennai, Villupuram, Salem, Tiruchirappalli and Madurai. For Post Graduate Diploma (2 years) it will be from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm and for Post Graduate Diploma (1 year) it will be from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Stipend: Those selected will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 8,000/-

Filled in application along with the copies of the Educational Certificates and Community Certificate should reach ‘The Principal Secretary and Commissioner (FAC), Department of Archaeology, Tamil Valarchi Valagam, Thamizh Salai, Egmore, Chennai - 600 008’, latest by 5 p.m. on 14.07.2025.
