Applications invited for GAT-B and BET 2024

National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for admission to the Graduate Aptitude Test- Biotechnology (GAT-B) and Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) - 2024.
GAT B: Graduate Aptitude Test-Biotechnology (GAT-B) is an All-India Entrance Examination to test the eligibility of bonafide Indian nationals for admissions to DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas including M.Sc. Biotechnology; M.Tech. Biotechnology; M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology and M.V.Sc. Animal Biotechnology, at Participating Institutions/Universities in India. GAT-B 2024 Score is valid for admission to the above mentioned courses during the academic year 2024-2025 only.
Qualified candidates of GAT-B 2024, admitted to DBT supported Post Graduate programmes in Biotechnology and allied areas, at Participating Institutions/Universities in India will be paid stipend as follows: (i) M.Sc. Biotechnology & Allied Areas - Rs.5000/- per month (ii) M.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology - Rs.7500/- per month (iii) M.Tech. / M.V.Sc. programmes - Rs.12000/- per month.
Those fulfilling the eligibility criteria of Participating Institutions / Universities as given in the Information Bulleting/Websites of the Institutions are eligible to apply for GAT-B 2024 entrance examination.
BET: Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2024 is the national qualifying examination for award of Doctoral Research Fellowships under the DBT-Junior Research Fellowship (DBTJRF) Programme. These fellowships are tenable at any recognized university/institution in India where the selected fellow registers for Ph.D. programme. Based on the performance in Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2024, two categories of merit list shall be prepared (Category-I and Category-II). Candidates shortlisted under Category-I shall be eligible to avail fellowship at any recognized university/institution across India, where the candidate enrols for Ph.D. Programme. Candidates shortlisted under Category-II will be eligible to be appointed in any DBT sponsored project with fellowship equivalent to NET/GATE qualification as per current DST guidelines and/or enrol in PhD programme, subject to selection through institutional selection process. Selection in Category-II shall not entitle candidate for any fellowship from DBT-JRF programme.
To apply for BET 2024, applicant should hold a Bachelors (B.E./ B.Tech./M.B.B.S) and Masters (M.Sc./M.Tech./ M.VSc./M. Pharm./ Integrated M.Sc./ M.Tech.) in any discipline of Biotechnology, Life Sciences such as Biomedical, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Botany, Chemistry, Computational Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Zoology or any other allied areas of Biology/Life-Sciences. Applicant should have minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ ST/ Differently Abled candidates in aggregate)/equivalent grade. Upper age limit is 28 years as on the last date of application. Age relaxation will be up to 5 years (33 years) for SC/ ST/ Differently Abled/Women candidates and up to 3 years (31 years) for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.
Application: Online registration and submission of online Application for GAT-B/BET-2024 can be done up to 5 pm on 6th March 2024 at https://dbt.ntaonline.in/. Application fee for each test will be Rs.1200/- (Rs.600/- for SC/ST/PwD). Fee can be paid using Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking up to 11:50 pm on 6th March 2024
Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate, irrespective of whether they are applying for GAT-B 2024 or BET 2024 or both. However, a candidate applying for both the exams has to pay Examination Fee for both. Multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate will not be accepted.
Those who have either appeared or are due to appear in the final examination of their qualifying degree are eligible to apply for GAT-B/BET 2024, under the result awaited (RA) category.
Correction can be made online in the Particulars of Application Form on 08 March 2024 and 09 March 2024.
GAT-B/BET-2024 will be held as Computer Based Test (CBT) on 20 April 2024 (Saturday). GAT-B will be from 9 am to12 noon and BET from 3 pm to 6 pm. Medium of Question Paper will be English. The question papers will comprise of Multiple Choice Questions from specified areas. For GAT-B, Section A will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology of the level of 10+2 and Section B will have Graduate /Bachelor’s level questions from Basic Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology and allied areas as per syllabus. BET 2024 will have questions from General Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, General Aptitude, Analytical, Quantitative Ability and General Biotechnology in Section A and questions from Specific areas of Biotechnology in Section B as per syllabus given.
