Bengaluru: Mahindra is set to launch its highly anticipated XEV 9S electric SUV in India on November 27, 2025, marking a momentous milestone as the country’s first true seven-seater electric SUV designed from the ground up. Built on Mahindra’s innovative INGLO platform, the XEV 9S offers a commanding SUV stance distinct from electric MPVs in the market, with spacious three-row seating catering to families seeking electric mobility options.

The XEV 9S is expected to be priced between Rs 21 lakh and Rs 31.7 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it competitively above the XEV 9e but within reach for mid-premium electric SUV buyers. It is likely to come with two battery options, 59kWh and 79kWh, offering a claimed driving range exceeding 500 km, with some indications of up to 656 km on the larger pack. Power outputs of 231 PS and 286 PS with 380 Nm torque are anticipated, paralleling the XEV 9e's performance.

Mahindra has previewed a suite of premium features, underscoring the XEV 9S’s focus on comfort and technology. Highlights include a triple-screen dashboard, rear-seat entertainment with onboard streaming, Harman Kardon audio, and a panoramic sunroof that opens, a step above the fixed glass roofs in earlier models. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with Level 2 capabilities, seven airbags, and a 360-degree camera system aim to bolster safety. Unique to this model, the SUV will offer both a traditional boot and a front trunk, enhancing cargo versatility.

This launch arrives amid growing momentum for Mahindra’s electric vehicle division, which has sold over 30,000 units of its existing electric SUVs since March 2025. The XEV 9S will compete against key players in the electric SUV segment, such as the Tata Harrier EV, BYD eMAX 7, and Kia Carens Clavis EV, contributing to the expanding landscape of family-oriented electric vehicles in India.
