New Delhi: YouTube has announced a range of AI-powered tools and new institutional partnerships to strengthen India’s digital knowledge ecosystem. The initiatives aim to support creators, expand access to verified health information, and provide training for careers in creative technologies.

According to Oxford Economics, YouTube contributed over Rs 16,000 crore to India’s GDP in 2023 and supported more than 9.3 lakh full-time equivalent jobs. Gunjan Soni, Managing Director of YouTube India, said 63% of monetising creators rely on the platform as their primary income source, and the company is focusing on skills development, collaborations and responsible AI tools.

The platform will work with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies to provide workshops, funding for AI projects, and support for IICT’s YouTube channel. It has also partnered with AIIMS College of Nursing to offer training videos for students and professionals.

New AI features include conversational tools for viewers and “Edit with AI” for creators, while measures to promote credible information and digital well-being are also being introduced.
